We are proud to announce that Abigail Owen’s 2024-2025 Undergraduate Research Scholars thesis, The Blurring Boundaries between Advocacy and Surveillance: The Use of Biometric Identification Technologies on Refugee Populations, was selected for this year’s Undergraduate Research Scholars Outstanding Thesis Award in Humanities, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences!

Abigail was recognized at the Spring Recognition Ceremony for May 2025 Graduates hosted by the Honors Academy, Office of Undergraduate Research, and Office of National Fellowships, on May 7, 2025. This ceremony recognizes the achievements of undergraduate recipients of university-, college-, and department-level honors distinctions, as well as recipients of special awards.

Abigail graduated with honors in International Studies and English and her faculty advisors were Dr. Maddalena A. Cerrato (Department of International Affairs) and Dr. Apostolos Vasilakis (Department of English).
