No. Admissions into our program are based on the following:
- College transcripts
- Letters of recommendation
- A personal statement of interest/intent
- Resume
- Completed application.

Previous experience with programming may be beneficial, but it is not required. Program coursework includes Python and R.

Courses are taught asynchronously. Instructors and students are not in the same place at the same time, so you won't need to attend class at a specific time. Assignments and participation due dates will be determined by your professor.

No. Your diploma and/or certificate will not differentiate between in-person and online programs.

No. Graduate are welcome to participate in Texas A&M activities such as graduation.

Yes. Master of Geoscience Online students can order an Aggie Ring after they have completed the required amount of hours.

Admissions Requirements
Admission to both Texas A&M’s online Master of Geoscience and certificate programs is a selective, competitive process. Ideal candidate qualifications include:
- Professional Experience: It is recommended that candidate have a minimum of two years of professional work experience. Applicants may still apply without two year of experience.
- Undergraduate degree: A candidate needs to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by Texas A&M. The admissions committee does not require a specific minimum GPA, but will consider the candidate’s GPA during the last 60 hours of the undergraduate program.
- Motivation and commitment to completing the program in an online format.
- Ability to balance an academically challenging program, ongoing career responsibilities, and personal life.
- Potential and ambition for career advancement

The program prepared me for grad school, and also taught me to view geomorphic features as natural recorders of signal, which can be translated into testable hypotheses on how landscapes evolve through time, and this shift in perspective has been priceless.
