Kenneth and M. Susan ’89 Whittington will establish the Kenneth and M. Susan ’89 Whittington Endowed Scholarship in Mathematics with a planned gift recently established with the Texas A&M Foundation,

The endowed scholarship will support full-time undergraduate students in good standing who are pursuing a degree in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Whittington's’ gift reflects their commitment to academic excellence and to supporting students with a passion for mathematics as they work toward completing their degree.

Susan Whittington, a native of Oklahoma City, earned her undergraduate degree in applied mathematics from Texas A&M University, attending from 1985 to 1989. Her academic experience in the field inspired the couple to give back to the department and help future students succeed in a rigorous and rewarding discipline.

The couple’s decision to create the scholarship was further influenced by conversations with representatives from the Texas A&M Foundation, whose presentation on the Foundation’s transformative work across the university left a lasting impression.

“I want to help more young women succeed in the mathematics and sciences industries,” Susan said. “Being an Aggie is defined by integrity, loyalty, success, leadership and resiliency. I would like to see recipients of our scholarship carry these values with them throughout their academic journeys and future careers.”
