Applications to both the Ph.D. and M.A. programs are submitted through the Texas A&M Graduate and Professional School. The application deadline for fall admission is January 6.

- Three letters of recommendation
We do not require the GRE.
*The use of generative AI in preparing the writing sample and statement of purpose is not permitted, except for basic proofreading for spelling and grammar. We may screen for AI during our review of applications.
What does the admissions committee look for?
The admissions committee is looking for high quality applicants who can demonstrate promise for a career in the discipline. This will be evidenced by a strong undergraduate background attested by excellent transcripts and robust letters of recommendation. The committee also considers whether or not the candidate is a good fit for the department's own areas of expertise as well as the quality of the writing sample.
