Five researchers from the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University have been selected for the prestigious 2025 GeoCAFE Scholars Cohort, a national initiative advancing research at the intersection of climate change and human health.
Supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the GeoCAFE program brings together leading scholars from the geosciences and health sciences to accelerate solutions to pressing climate-health challenges. Cohort members will participate in joint research and data-driven projects aimed at informing public health strategies and strengthening climate resilience.
The Texas A&M cohort includes:
- Dr. Andrew Dessler, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences and Director of the Texas Center for Extreme Weather
- Dr. Yangyang Xu, Associate Professor of Atmospheric Sciences
- Dr. Daikwon Han, Associate Professor of Geography and Public Health
- Dr. Tobi Eniolu Morakinyo, Assistant Professor of Geography
- Yifan Yang, Ph.D. student in Geography
Together, these researchers represent a dynamic blend of expertise—from atmospheric modeling and climate policy to environmental health and geospatial analysis. Their selection highlights Texas A&M’s growing leadership in climate-health research and its commitment to addressing global challenges through interdisciplinary innovation.
