A big department shoutout goes to one of our departments doctoral students, Shelby McGrew, for being presented with two distinguished awards!

The O'Neill Addiction Science Education Award from the Texas Research Society on Alcoholism that she was awarded, recognizes a medical, dental, postdoctoral or graduate student who has demonstrated excellence in educating the public, health professionals treatment professionals, and other non-scientists about the latest addiction science research. She was also awarded the Ethel Ashworth-Tsutsui Award for Research from TAMU's Women in Science in Engineering (WISE) organization. Shelby was nominated for these awards by her research mentors, Dr. Anka A. Vujanovic and Dr. Andres Viana.

Shelby looks forward to graduating with her PhD from Texas A&M University and to her continuous building her empirical and clinical understanding of the co-occurrence of trauma and addiction throughout her career. We are proud to see Shelbys accomplishments and cannot wait to witness her continued works in her field. Way to go, Shelby!
