Norma Arizpe

Norma Arizpe received her B.A. from Pan American University, Edinburg, Texas in 1971 and a M.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1971. She is a Senior Lecturer in the department teaching undergraduate courses such as first and second year Spanish, Honors courses, SPAN 310 Oral Expression, SPAN 302 Advanced Grammar, and SPAN 303 Composition and Conversation. In 2009, she received the College Level Association of Former Students Distinguished Award in Teaching. In 1992, students recognized her commitment to teaching by naming a “Fish Camp” in her honor and in 1996 a T-camp was also named in her honor. From 2005 to 2006 she chaired “¡Siempre! 130 years of Hispanics at Texas A&M”, a university-wide committee which led to an exhibit housed in the Cushing Library.
