Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at Texas A&M University offers a B.A. in Philosophy, a B.A. in Society, Ethics, and Law, an undergraduate minor in Philosophy, a Pre-Law Certificate, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy.

Our programs develop the skills employers and graduate programs value most: critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, persuasive writing, and clear communication. Philosophy majors consistently rank among the top performers nationally on the LSAT, GRE, and GMAT, making the degree a strong foundation for law school, graduate study, and careers in law, policy, technology ethics, business, and education.

Students learn directly from 16 full-time faculty members whose research spans the major traditions of the discipline, alongside award-winning instructional professors.

B.A. Society, Ethics, and Law

The Bachelor of Arts in Society, Ethics, and Law (SEAL) is designed for students preparing for careers in law, community service, or related fields. Extensive coursework in moral, social, political, and legal philosophy is combined with courses utilizing historical and social science methodologies to explore relevant topics.
