Stefanie Harris

Stefanie Harris is Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Professor of German and Global Studies, at Texas A&M University. Previously, she served as Head of the Department of International Studies (2018-2022) and inaugural Head of the Department of Global Languages and Cultures (2022-2024). Dr. Harris is a specialist in 20th and 21st century German literature and film, with a research focus on image-text interactions and the introduction of new media as inflection points that influence the socio-cultural landscape. She has published widely on German literature, film, and photography, and she is the author of Mediating Modernity: German Literature and the “New” Media, 1895-1930 (Penn State University Press). Dr. Harris has been awarded over $2.5 million in funding from federal grants in support of student-training in designated critical languages. She teaches a broad range of courses in German language, literature, and culture, film studies, and global media, and she has led thirteen study abroad trips for undergraduates to Germany.
