Biography
Omar Rivera (PhD, Penn State) specializes in Latin American Philosophy, Phenomenology and Aesthetics. He is the author of Delimitations of Latin American Philosophy: Beyond Redemption (Indiana University Press, 2019) and Andean Aesthetics and Anticolonial Resistance: A Cosmology of Unsociable Bodies (Bloomsbury Press, 2021). In 2018-2019 he was awarded the ACLS Burkhardt Fellowship and was a research faculty at LLILAS-Benson at the University of Texas in Austin. He is the Co-PI for the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant LatinTX: Place, Race, and Latinx Critical Environmental Justice in Texas (2025-2029). His current manuscript in progress is Aesthetics Without Shelter: Displacing the Origins of Art.
