Catalytic research at Texas A&M University covers a broad range of homogeneous catalysis, heterogeneous catalysis, and biocatalysis. Many of the important challenges in modern catalysis research are under investigation at TAMU, including photo- and electro-chemical production of renewable energy, the efficient conversion of renewable and non-renewable feedstocks into valuable chemicals and polymers, methods to recover and re-use catalysts, the production of materials for solar energy utilization, and the development of tools for catalyst design and characterization. Catalysis also plays a pivotal role in green chemical processes, which seek to minimize waste and the use of resources.
