About Undergraduate Advising
The Department of Economics has the best team of Undergraduate Academic Advisors excited to support you in your undergraduate education. Academic advising is a collaborative effort between students and advisors to assist in making your dreams become reality. The advising team is here to help you understand your degree requirements, explore the options available to you, and equip you with the resources you need to achieve a balanced education while at Texas A&M.
Students are not assigned to an advisor, so you may meet with anyone on the team by appointment or drop-in.
Email us or make an appointment so we can discuss your individual situation during advising hours or drop-ins. We are located on the first floor of the West Campus Social Sciences Building (WCSS) in Suite 103.

What Not to Expect
- Decision makers - We give advice so you can make a well informed decision
- Extend missed deadlines - You are in college now, it's your responsibility to be on time
- Tolerate rude & disrespectful behavior - Sometimes we have to tell you no, or news you do not want to hear, but if you cross the line we have the right to stop the appointment
- Advising on any major that is not Economics – Transition Academic Programs serves in that role
- An assistant
- Schedule your advising appointments – use the Navigate360 scheduling system
- Registration – advisors review degree plan progression & recommend course schedule options [ex: economics elective + life & physical science + math, etc]
- Selecting specific classes is the responsibility of the student.
- Look up exact information you can Google – we will give you the information for you to do the research
- Meet or correspond with anyone except the STUDENT regarding their academic record [see FERPA]
Our goal as an Academic Advising team is to prepare you for life after college in a professional setting as independent adults that problem-solve when given the tools and resources. Many undergraduate students need polishing for this transition in areas such as communication skills, both oral and written, putting the phone down, time management, finding information on their own, and controlling reactions to negative outcomes.
We view college as the last "safe place" to fail in these areas, but push our students to grow so they are ready to shine in their first professional role.
