Inaugural Industry Affiliates Program Meeting

Please join us for our first meetup!

Monday, May 18, 2026
7:00–9:00 p.m.
Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (upstairs event space)
705 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002

RSVP

The purpose of this meeting and our emerging Industry Affiliates Program is to develop formal and informal mechanisms for feedback on what we do in the Texas A&M University Department of Geography: our curriculum, our classes, and the experiences and connections that we try to build for our students to help them launch successful careers.

Monday's informal meetup will allow us to connect one-on-one with working professionals to obtain feedback on what was missing from your own degree, what new graduates struggle with, where the industry is going, and what the Department of Geography needs to do to continue producing the best of the best.

The only formal part of the meeting will be a Poll Everywhere survey experience where we will ask you to use your phone to answer some quick questions about what our program should be doing, and then to discuss and have a good time while we pick your brain for information on how we can do better.

We hope to ultimately build out a group of industry affiliates who would be willing to formally serve on an Industry Affiliates Program Board and/or committee(s) to help us routinely review our curricula and our graduates' skills to ensure we are doing the best job possible, and to facilitate impactful, life-changing opportunities and experiences for students in our department.
