Industry Affiliates Program

The Texas A&M University Department of Geography is excited to announce the creation of an Industry Affiliates Program (IAP). This IAP is designed to foster meaningful connections between the department and members of the geographic and geospatial industries, government partners, employers, and former students. Through this program, we seek to advance our mission of preparing graduates to excel from day one in their professional careers—equipping them with the skills and knowledge to meet and exceed the demands of today's workplaces and ensuring they are among the most sought-after talent entering the geography and geographic information science fields.

The Geography IAP offers a unique platform for industry and government collaborators to:

• Interact directly with geography faculty, staff, and students
• Help evaluate and shape the professional preparation of future geospatial leaders
• Provide real-world experiences and opportunities for students

Partners in the IAP will have access to a range of exclusive opportunities, including:

• Participation in student capstone projects and reviews, providing real-world industry project connections
• Employment opportunity distribution and recruiting event invitations, including career fairs
• Curriculum and academic program reviews, offering valuable feedback to align our training with current industry needs
• GIS Day speaking engagements and participation
• Mentoring opportunities for current students preparing to enter the workforce
• Student internship and job placement pathways
• Access to students, faculty, and staff through showcase events and ongoing collaboration
• Development of funding opportunities to enhance impactful educational experiences
