Luke Soules III Graduate Fellowship in Global Macroeconomics is awarded to an advanced Ph.D. student in Economics, who has completed their 4th year.  Applicants must be full time graduate students in good standing in the Department of Economics, and are assessed based on evidence of independent scholarship and promising research leading to a high quality dissertation. Further considerations are that the research is broadly in the field of global macroeconomics, and enhances our understanding of economic relationships, with a focus on improving welfare, societal cohesion, and economic growth. This year’s award is funded by the Private Enterprise Research Center

This year's winner is Geumbi Park. Geumbi’s research explores how firm behavior and market dynamics shape broader macroeconomic outcomes. She focuses on understanding how decisions made by firms—such as pricing, market participation, hiring, and innovation—interact with aggregate shocks and influence the economy’s response to recessions and recoveries.  She also investigates how government policies, including fiscal interventions, transmit through complex supply chains and regional linkages, influencing local and national economic outcomes. Geumbi’s research approach integrates tools from industrial organization and macroeconomics, allowing her to capture both micro-level heterogeneity and macro-level implications.

Congratulations Geumbi!
