Mariana Carmona Award from Hooding ceremony

The Masters of Economics is proud to announce that Mariana Carmona, former MS ECON student, has been awarded the Tim Gronberg Award for Young Alumnus at the Fall Masters of Economics Hooding Ceremony.

This award is presented to a distinguished graduate of Texas A&M University’s Economics program in recognition of their unwavering dedication to the field of Economics. The recipient must have graduated no more than 10 years ago from our program and displayed early success, innovation, and leadership in their personal, academic, or professional pursuits.

The Gronberg Award is bestowed to honor the significant contributions of Professor Timothy Gronberg to the Department of Economics. Renowned as both a distinguished researcher and educator, Dr. Gronberg also served twice as Department Head. During his latest decade-long tenure, he steered the Department through a remarkable phase of growth, overseeing the recruitment of numerous esteemed faculty members, the expansion of both the undergraduate and Masters programs, and the enhancement of a PhD program that consistently exceeds expectations.

Ms. Mariana Carmona is a Manager in Deloitte’s transfer pricing practice with nearly six years of experience serving large multinational companies in different business sectors. Mariana started her career at Deloitte right after graduating magna cum laude from Texas A&M University where she received a B.S. and M.S. degree in Economics. Recently she has partnered with the Department of Economics in recruiting efforts by hosting informational and social events for students to learn more about Deloitte and transfer pricing as a career path. It has been a pleasure to partner with her and her team in order to strengthen our relationship and placement with this prestigious firm. Her continued efforts have resulted placements for our students.

Mariana has also served in Deloitte’s Texas A&M University Relations Committee as the Brand and Eminence co-chair, focusing on developing relationships with Texas A&M students and staff by facilitating events and competitions as well as sponsoring students’ scholarships through the Deloitte Foundation. Mariana’s desire to continuously hare her time and talents with our students is appreciated by students and the department.

Congratulations Mariana!
