Use of Texas A&M Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
All our courses are delivered through Canvas and are designed to provide a consistent user experience. In addition, advising and technical support throughout your time in the program is provided through specialized Canvas courses.
Aggie Virtual Desktop
All the software required in our program is available to students through a specialized Geoscience instance of the Aggie Virtual Desktop.
Esri Software for your Personal Computer
In addition to the standard set of software made freely available to Texas A&M Students (e.g., Microsoft 365, Adobe, Endnote, Matlab) to be installed on your personal computer, ArcGIS Software as well as Esri’s Online courses are available to you through our University’s Site License. The Hardware and Operating System requirements to run ArcGIS Pro and other Esri Software are listed below.
Hardware and Software Requirements
Before you make decisions on which courses you want to take, remember that you will need access to a computer with an updated browser. Professors may also require specific programs and software for completing assignments. Specific hardware requirements for our program include:
- PC running current 64bit OS. Note ArcGIS Pro does not run under MacOS or on Chromebooks or iPads
- Intel based processor (recommended 4 cores)
- 8 GB of RAM minimum, recommend 32 MB
- 512 GB Storage system
- Integrated Webcam
- Wi-Fi capable
