Biography
Chair: Jonathan Brunstedt
I am from Fairhope, Alabama, a gulf coast community along the shores of Mobile Bay. In 2021, I graduated from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama as a double major in history and religion. By the fall of 2021, I began my MA in military history at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where I studied under Dr. Andrew Wiest. My MA thesis is a grassroots study of Wehrmacht personnel and their religious expressions in their letters with the German Homefront during the Second World War. With emphasis on the religious writings of soldiers, it argues that religious expressions and rituals within the Wehrmacht carried far more significance with combat personnel than the trending historiography suggests. At Texas A&M University, my dissertation is a continuation of this quest to understand the cohabitation of Nazism and religion in Hitler’s Germany. I am studying under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Brunstedt.
