College of Arts & Sciences

The Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) oversees the undergraduate program. The DUS chairs the Undergraduate Committee, oversees undergraduate advising and the undergraduate curriculum, and serves as the department representative to the College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Instruction Committee. Dr. Hoi-eun Kim (hekim@tamu.edu) currently serves as the DUS.

The Advising Office provides basic information on the major and minor programs, what courses need to be taken, and what requirements need to be filled. Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor on a regular basis, preferably at least once a semester.

Advising Hours

1. Appointments

Students utilize the Navigate portal to make an appointment. After you have selected your time, you will come to a final screen and you must scroll all the way down on that final screen to confirm your appointment. Once your meeting is confirmed, you will receive an auto-reply email with instructions on how to access the advisor’s Zoom meeting room for your advising session.

Advising appointments are available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9-11:30AM in person and via Zoom. Tuesday 9-11:30AM via Zoom only.

2. Drop-in advising

Drop-in advising is available Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2-4PM, both in person and via Zoom. Tuesday 2-4PM via Zoom only.

  1. When students come in- person for drop-in advising, they need to sign in at our main office LAAH 352.

  2. If students come in via Zoom, one of our student workers will send them a Google Form link to sign in. We meet with students on a first come first serve basis, so during busier times in the year such as add/drop week and Pre-Registration, there could be a longer wait time and will need to be patient.
