Research Interests

My research focuses on the intersections of race, religion, and gender in the eighteenth-century British Atlantic world. Currently, I am studying how elite Quakers in Pennsylvania reconciled their pacifist principles with the martial masculinity expounded by their European and American Indian neighbors during the period of nearly constant violence that occurred between the Seven Years’ War and the American Revolution.
