Dr. Takkara Brunson’s book, Black Women, Citizenship, and the Making of Modern Cuba (University of Florida Press, 2021), was selected as one of two winners of the Letitia Woods Brown Book prize for African American women’s history! This prize is bestowed annually by the Association of Black Women Historians and is a terrific and well-deserved recognition of Dr. Brunson’s important scholarship.
