Conference Information
The Texas Geometry and Topology Conference (TGTC) is dedicated to the enhancement of both the educational and the research atmosphere of the community of geometers and topologists in Texas and surrounding states. The TGTC has three specific goals:
- The TGTC is committed to bring researchers of national and international stature to the region to discuss their research and to interact with mathematicians from Texas and surrounding states.
- The TGTC provides the community of geometers and topologists from Texas and surrounding states a convenient forum to meet and share mathematics on a regular basis. The geographic region is so large that few reasonable alternatives exist. The conference strongly encourages both individual research and productive cooperative efforts between schools.
- The TGTC is committed to the strengthening and enrichment of the mathematics personnel base. Graduate students, junior faculty, women, minorities, and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to participate..

Conference History
Founded in 1989, the semiannual Texas Geometry and Topology Conference has become an institution for mathematicians in the Southwest. The TGTC has been held spring and fall since its founding, a total of 55 times. The TGTC is partially supported under a grant from the National Science Foundation. Originally the TGTC was organized and supported through a consortium of four universities: University of Texas, Austin, Texas A&M University, Rice University, and University of Houston. Some years ago, Texas Christian University and Texas Tech University joined in hosting the conference. University of Texas, Arlington joined the consortium in 2012.
The original Texas Geometry and Topology Conference confined itself primarily to Texas universities and attracted about 40 participants. Attendance at subsequent conferences has grown steadily and substantially. In 1991, the scope of the TGTC was permanently expanded to include essentially all universities and colleges in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Participants from each of these states regularly come to the TGTC. Since 1994, fall conferences have been national events, attracting participants from around the country and world.
