Biography

Dr. Abhishek Chakrabortty is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Biostatistics from Harvard University, and his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute. Prior to joining TAMU, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Statistics, University of Pennsylvania. He is a statistician with general interests in statistics and machine learning methods, and their applications in the modern big data era. His methodological research broadly focuses on robust and efficient statistical inference with high dimensional and/or incomplete observational data. Some of his main research interests include statistical learning in semi-supervised settings, high dimensional statistical inference, methods for causal inference and missing data, data integration and transfer learning, and Bayesian semi-parametric inference, with applications in the analysis of large-scale data from modern biomedical studies. His work is currently funded by the National Science Foundation, and he is a recipient of the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) Career Initiation Fellow Award. He is also a recipient of the Department of Statistics Teaching Excellence Award, and he currently serves as an Associate Editor for Statistics and Probability Letters.
