Biography

Jillian Glantz is a PhD student in the Graduate History Program at Texas A&M University. She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley, with a double minor in Mexican American Studies and Criminal Justice. Jillian has a working background in film and during her undergraduate studies, she received the Engaged Scholar Award to direct a feature-length documentary based upon her research on the Jewish History in the Rio Grande Valley.

Her master's research examines a historic Black cemetery in the Texas-Mexico borderlands, and includes intersections of interethnic relations, racial violence, labor, historical archaeology, and cemetery studies. Her dissertation research focuses on early Black women filmmakers, utilizing film history, feminist theory, African American history, and archival studies.
