Academic Advising

We’re here to help you make the most of your academic experience—whether it’s choosing the right courses, staying on track with degree requirements, exploring study abroad options, or planning for life after graduation.

Advising is more than just picking classes; it’s about setting yourself up for success. Meeting with an academic advisor at least once per semester ensures you make informed decisions and take advantage of all the opportunities available to you. We’re here to answer your questions and support your goals—let’s make your college journey a great one!

Advising Syllabus:  Review the advising syllabus as a reminder of what to expect from your advisor and what they expect from you.

Academic Advising Hours:

  • Drop-in advising is Monday-Thursday 9:00-11:00am
  • Appointments are Monday-Thursday 1:30-4:00pm
  • Quick questions can also be addressed by email to engladvising@tamu.edu 

Located in LAAH, English Undergraduate Office, Suite 352. 

Our hours may change depending on the advisor’s availability or during busy times like add/drop week, pre-registration, and finals.

To schedule an advising appointment:

  1. Go to  https://tamu.campus.eab.com/
  2. Click “Schedule an Appointment”
  3. Select “Advising Texas A&M University” from the drop-down menu
  4. Select “AT - College of Arts & Sciences” from the drop-down menu
  5. Choose your reason for advising from the drop-down menu
  6. Select “AT – ENGL – see Additional Details” from the drop-down menu
  7. Choose your Appointment Day and Time
  8. Review the appointment details and make sure the reminder boxes are checked
  9. Don’t forget to click “Schedule.” If you do not receive a confirmation email, you did not complete this step!

If you can’t make your appointment or no longer need to meet with an advisor, please cancel it. This frees up the spot for another student who might need it!

English Course Offerings:

You may use these resources to help with finding English courses.  
Force Requests: 
We are not currently taking any force requests.
Please note that requests are only considered for English Department students.
  • If the form is not open, we are not accepting force requests.
  • Force requests are not considered for summer terms.

ENGL 104:

If you are a junior or senior needing ENGL 104, these sections are available:

 ENGL 104-503, 104-514, 104-522, 104-523, and 104-536.

  • Seats in these sections are limited and not guaranteed.
  • Restrictions will not be overridden for any other section.
  • If you are unable to register, please plan to take the course elsewhere and transfer it in.

There is NO guarantee that the English Department will offer this opportunity in future semesters.
