  • Kennedy, Curry. One of nine faculty members at Texas A&M University to be named the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) 2026-2027 Montague-CTE Shcolars. This year marks the 36th anniversary of this prestigious award, which continues to celebrate and support early-career faculty who demonstrate a profound commitment to undergraduate education at Texas A&M University. Conferences and Workshops Attended

  • Crider, Jason. Presented the paper "Q B Us: The Aesthetic Legacy of QAnon" at the Rhetoric Society of America 2026 Biannual Conference.

 

  • Stagg, Robert. 'Shakespeare's Middle Eastern Sonnets?', Paul Kiparsky Annual Lecture, Stanford University, 16 April 2026

 

  • Stagg, Robert. 'Asiatic Style Revisited'. Invited lecture to 'Renaissances' research group, Stanford University, 15 April 2026

 

Department Happenings

  • Francis, James. He worked with Undergraduate Student Alysa Taylor (ENGL Spring 2026 graduate) in Fall 2025 on the “H.P. Lovecraft Research & Scholarship” UPREP to develop the essay and help establish an annual H.P. Lovecraft essay-writing contest for the English Department. Congratulations to Alysa for having a research paper accepted into the Lovecraft Annual: "Before Cthulhu: The Gradual Formation of Cosmicism in Lovecraft’s 'Nathicana' and 'A Garden'.

 

Publications

  • Loving, Jerome, "Mark Twain and the Short Story," Mark Twain Journal, 64, No. 1 (Spring, 2026), 34-44.

 

  • Pantuso, Terri. Multiple peer reviewed OER textbooks with curriculum for ENGL 1301 and ENGL 1302 are now live and available on the TAMUS ODP website. This project involved the work of numerous grad students and faculty in our department from 2023-2026 as well as the collaboration and co-authoring with more than 20 scholars around Texas creating and revising content based upon peer reviews and pilot testing. Both texts were funded by the THECB for the Digital Learning for Student Success (D2S2) initiative.
