Many things in life just can’t be quantified, but that doesn’t stop Dr. Frank Gallant ’69 from trying ever since he graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in economics. His donation shows how gratitude can take many forms.
“I'm not sure I can express the abundance of my feelings about being an Aggie,” Gallant said. “Academically, I received a great education. Importantly, I have made lifelong friends who will always be willing to help me when I might be in need and whom I would also be willing to help.”
In the spirit of helping others make lifelong friends at Aggieland, Gallant and his wife Bonnie have established the Bonnie and Frank Gallant Jr. ’69 Endowed Scholarship. Their fund will provide one or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing undergraduate degrees in the Department of Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Without my experiences at Aggieland, much of whom I am today would never have been. I am the one who is grateful. Thank you, Aggies.
“Texas A&M has made me the person I am today,” Gallant said. “In addition to academics, I learned about myself. I learned responsibility. I learned leadership, and I learned compassion, patience, understanding and how to improve myself as a human being. Additionally, I love the subject of economics, and I still today apply the principles in my daily activities. I have continued my study of economics throughout my life, and I will always continue that journey.”
In his life’s study of economics, Gallant earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M and his Ph.D. from the University of Idaho. Along the way, he has been a teacher, a school counselor, an administrator and a superintendent. Gallant then founded Gallant Analytics to provide schools with tools to help them become more efficient, such as by analyzing the effectiveness of their programs and addressing dropout rates. His latest contribution to improving education for others takes the form of giving back to the Aggie community.
“Without my experiences at Aggieland, much of whom I am today would never have been,” Gallant said. “I am the one who is grateful. Thank you, Aggies.”
