On September 25, the Texas A&M University Department of Economics hosted its annual Fall Career Night, presented by Merit Advisors. The event, held in the Memorial Student Center on the Texas A&M campus, brought together an impressive 20 companies and six student resource tables, making it the largest Career Night the department has ever offered.

This special “come and go” event allowed undergraduate and graduate students in Texas A&M Economics to meet directly with industry professionals and recruiters. Students had the opportunity to connect with representatives from various fields, highlighting the many career paths open to economics majors.

Attending companies included notable names such as:

The ECON Career Night is a signature event designed to facilitate personal interactions between companies and students, highlighting the mutual interest in connecting talent with opportunity. Historically, participating firms have acknowledged that they are connecting with economics students who possess the skills they need. Likewise, Texas A&M students are aware that the company representatives they engage with are sincerely interested in the unique talents and expertise that economics majors offer.

“Company recruiters from past events have raved about the quality of our students, and their continued participation over the years speaks volumes about the value they place on this event,” said Dr. Dennis Jansen, professor and head of Texas A&M Economics. “Company participation continues to increase, and this year, we have the largest set of participating recruiters, with more than 20 recruiters from a wide variety of industries and jobs. I’ll say a special thanks to Merit Advisors, who continues to sponsor this event, and I’ll call out Paula Verdegaal, who deserves kudos for the great job she does with this event and with other related activities that contribute mightily to our students’ job market success.”

Details about Economics' Spring 2025 Career Night will be announced soon. Interested companies who want to be represented at this event in the future are advised to contact Paula Verdegaal directly at paulav@tamu.edu.
