Dr. Frank Sottile, professor in the Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University, has been named a 2024 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and a 2025 Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).

These national honors highlight Sottile’s influential research in algebraic geometry and his leadership in applied and computational mathematics. His work focuses on solving complex mathematical problems that have applications in science, engineering and technology.

In addition to his research, Sottile contributes to the field through teaching, mentorship and professional service. He directs undergraduate research in his department and regularly leads outreach efforts including local math circles for middle and high school students.

Sottile also plays a key role in organizing national programs and conferences, serves on scientific committees and is an editor for several academic journals.

His election to both fellowships adds to his previous recognition as a 2012 Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, further underscoring his impact on the mathematics community.
