In their dissertation, Jalia L. Joseph investigated how the interactions between gender and racial dynamics within the Black Lives Matter Movement and the Women’s March (spanning the years 2017 to 2021) influence the political and protest engagement of Black individuals who belong to marginalized genders, referred to as Black MaGes.
