
Nereyda Ortiz was selected as a fellow for the Falling Walls Female Science Talents Intensive Track 2025. This is a prestigious 11-month fellowship is designed to empower and inspire talented women with a strong research background to take their next career step. The program provides mentorship, skill-development workshops, and international networking opportunities to 20 exceptionally talented women across all scientific disciplines, helping them achieve significant career breakthroughs. Through online events, mentoring sessions, and participation in two high-level gatherings in Berlin, the fellowship increases the visibility of women in science and fosters leadership development.
Falling Walls is a unique global hub connecting science, business and society. The name of the foundation comes from the falling Berlin Wall that marked a new era of freedom by breaking barriers. The Falling Walls Foundation channels this iconic image as a not-for-profit organization based in Berlin, devoted to bringing together those who aim to tear down the next walls in science and society. It is an ever-growing network of the most ambitious and forward-thinking minds from around the globe.
Nereyda's work on explores the intersection of demography and social inequities. Her professional background includes roles as a design and development specialist at World Vision Guatemala and as a technical analyst at the Central American Sugar Association. She is also a proud Fulbright alumna and has received fellowships from the Mosbacher Institute and UFM. We are proud to have Nereyda as our PhD Candidate!
