Du Yi earned a BA in Sociology and Economics from the University of Richmond and an MA in Sociology from Columbia University. She is interested in how gender has been socially constructed through daily narratives and how institutional structures, especially the education system, construct and reproduce gender-discriminatory social norms. In the future, she aims to switch her research focus to immigration, class, and race.
