Biography
Michael Gonzalez is a Visiting Lecturer at Texas A&M University. He earned his Masters in Communication Studies from Texas Christian University. His thesis, Where Two or Three have Gathered, studied the performative aspects of prayer that young adults employ when praying in group contexts. He earned the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant award during his studies and later joined TCU’s Communication Studies department as a faculty member. Previously, he was on staff with a nonprofit in Fort Worth called Academy 4. Michael led and spoke in leadership assemblies in several of the economically disadvantaged elementary schools they supported through community engagement and mentorship. He also has a storied history as a lighting director, having worked for both churches and corporations across the country to design lighting solutions for events large and small. As such, Michael weaves his experience and insight gleaned from being both on and off stage into the public speaking courses taught since his days as a graduate student.
