Welcome to the Department of Communication and Journalism at Texas A&M University.
We as a department are dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge across the broad fields of communication and journalism. Our mission is to foster ethical, skilled, and engaged global citizens, well-prepared to adapt and lead in a rapidly changing world. We achieve this through a robust blend of research, teaching, and active community and civic engagement. Our department houses three dynamic divisions: Humanities & Critical/Cultural Studies, which explores the interplay between democracy, media, culture, and society; Communication & Media Science, focusing on empirical studies of communication processes and media effects; and Journalism & Media Practices, which prepares students for careers in journalism and media fields through practical and theoretical instruction. Each division contributes uniquely to our comprehensive understanding of communication, journalism, and media, ensuring our graduates are well-equipped to achieve their career goals and make positive societal contributions.
As Head of this vibrant department, I am continually inspired by the dedication of our faculty and the enthusiasm of our students. I am proud of our collective efforts to produce meaningful research and educate students who are ready to engage effectively with society and succeed in their professional endeavors.
