Biography
Mikayla Renwick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Social Influence with a minor in Africology and African American Studies from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Her research pertains to Black Placemaking, Urban Development, and Communication practices by analyzing how Black men and women create space across the African Diaspora. She is exploring the intricate dynamics of racialization, specialization, and geography as critical areas of research.
Currently, Mikayla Renwick is pursuing an advanced degree in the Department of Communication and Journalism at Texas A&M University. With a strong academic background and a commitment to understanding and addressing issues of race and geography, Mikayla Renwick aims to contribute to the field through both scholarly research and practical applications. Her work is driven by a passion for social justice and a dedication to amplifying marginalized voices.
In addition to her studies, Mikayla Renwick has served as a Research Assistant and an Instructor of Record in the Department of Communication. She has also presented her research at the National Communication Association and is a member of the Black Graduate Student Association and Communication Graduate Student Association. She is originally from Philadelphia, PA, and loves the Philadelphia Eagles!
