Biography

Hyunseok Hwang studies Organizational, Political and Economic Sociology. His research and teaching span organization theory, community ecology, and social change in contexts of nonprofit and social entrepreneurship. He was a teaching assistant for Dr. Patricia H. Thornton’s Entrepreneurial Perspective course (MGMT / SOCI 376) and taught Social Science Method course (SOCI 220). His research for the dissertation entitled “the value of institutional heterogeneity for society” is supported by grants from Mays Innovation Research Center at Mays Business School ($10,000). He has been awarded other internal and external grants as an independent researcher and as part of research projects. His research work has been published in various journals such as Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, the Social Science Journal, Social Science Quarterly, Journal of Professions and Organization, Nonprofit Policy Forum, and International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy.
