The success of any strategic plan depends on ongoing assessment. It is critical to give continuous attention to whether progress is made towards obtaining goals and what actions have been effective at promoting success. It is also important to account for how disruptions or changes in the academic environment affect elements of the initial plan and when opportunities emerge that invite possibilities for new action steps and initiatives. Situations are dynamic and changing. Our strategic plan is a living document, and we recognize that as situations change, we may need to reprioritize our objectives and recalibrate our actions and initiatives while remaining dedicated to our goals.
It is important to communicate the progress of the strategic plan as it is being implemented. If we are to be successful in establishing our college as one of the preeminent colleges of Arts and Sciences in the nation, we need the support of our faculty, staff, and students as well as the public. We will provide reports and updates throughout the life of the strategic plan to not only provide stakeholders with important information regarding what progress we have made, but also as an invitation to provide feedback, offer ideas, and join us on this journey.
We will provide our internal and external stakeholders with annual reports regarding the progress we have made in implementing the strategic plan. These reports will provide an overview of what actions and initiatives have been implemented in the preceding year, information regarding their effect, and action items for the upcoming year.
We will also provide our internal and external stakeholders with assessment reports over the 5-year span of the strategic plan. A detailed assessment using the full range of metrics and milestones will be conducted in Year1, Year 3, and Year 5.
