With funds from a planned gift, the Chancellors’ scholarships will assist first-generation biology students who plan to attend dental or medical school.

Through a planned gift, Drs. James W. ‘68 and Patricia Chancellor will establish two new endowed scholarships through the Texas A&M Foundation.

The Drs. James W. ‘68 and Patrcia Chancellor Endowed Arts and Sciences Leadership Scholarship II and Drs. James W. ‘68 and Patrcia Chancellor Endowed Arts and Sciences Leadership Scholarship IIl will benefit students participating in the Arts & Sciences Leadership Scholars program, which supports first-generation students as they navigate college life and the pursuit of a degree.

The Chancellor’s scholarship will give preference to students pursuing a degree in biology with plans to attend dental or medical school.

James, who earned a bachelor's degree in zoology from Texas A&M in 1969, graduated from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in 1971. Patricia earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas School of Dentistry San Antonio. Together, the couple created a successful general practice, which they closed in 2009.

Until their retirement in 2014, James and Patricia provided ambulatory anesthesia services for residents with special needs who lived in five of Texas’ state-supported living centers. The couple resides in Garden Ridge, Texas.
