The College of Arts and Sciences partners with Texas A&M University Health Services to support Aggie mental health needs by helping ArtSci students meet their academic goals within the context of service eligibility, student obligations and University Health Services resources, offering a variety of counseling and mental health care appointments and workshops with our embedded counselor.
Appointments
Students can schedule initial counseling appointments with Angie McDonald, LPC-S in the Academic Building or one of the counselors at the Student Services Building. After the initial appointment, the next steps can be determined. University Health Services offers short-term counseling and solution-focused care. If students need additional services, such as a psychological evaluation, assessment or long-term therapy, the counselor will help with appropriate referrals.
Appointments can be made directly on the University Health Services website.
In addition to individual counseling, University Health Services offers a variety of resources for students including groups and workshops, Aggie Recovery, Aggie Peer Connect, Crisis Counseling, Counselor Connect events, Learning Disability and ADHD screening, and Career and Exploration counseling.
Workshops
Workshops are opportunities to increase different coping skills and wellness habits aimed toward improving your mental health and wellbeing. You can learn practical tools to effectively manage concerns related to depression, anxiety, difficult emotions, relationships and more. The workshops vary each semester, so the website is the best place to view all opportunities. Students can sign up directly on the University Health Services workshops webpage. Some topics include imposter phenomenon, surviving a break-up, building an anxiety toolbox, getting unstuck, coping with stress, managing ADHD symptoms, etc.
Let's Talk
Let's Talk is an opportunity to stop by Angie McDonald's office, or one of the other Let's Talk locations on campus and learn about mental health appointments or additional resources on campus. This is an informal, supportive space for students to ask questions. Visit Angie McDonald during her Let's Talk sessions on Wednesdays from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in ACAD 112. Students do not have to register to attend.
