Overview
Participation in international conferences extends the professional networks and international reputations of faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences. The purpose of the International Conference Travel Grant Program is to enhance the research activities of tenure-track and tenured faculty members by providing supplemental funds to offset the cost of presenting research at recognized, prestigious international scholarly conferences. These funds may be used in combination with departmental funds for professional development.
This program provides up to $2,000 to support travel costs for a tenure-track or tenured faculty member to present research at an international conference. Travel to Canada and Mexico is treated fiscally as domestic travel, and therefore is not covered by this program.
Eligibility Criteria
This program is open to tenured/tenure-track faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences, including ACES Assistant Professors. Eligible faculty may receive one international conference travel grant per year. Priority will be given to faculty who have been accepted/invited as a participant, and do not have available funds from startup, endowment funds, indirect costs (IDC) funds, etc.

Processing of Awarded Grants
Awarded grant funds will be transferred to the faculty member’s department. Travel expenses will be reimbursed after the travel has been completed and receipts have been submitted for all reimbursable expenses, along with documentation confirming conference participation. Please note that applying for funding is separate from requesting approval to travel. All faculty receiving these grants will also need to submit requests for travel as they would normally do for any professional travel.
Primary Care Grant for Professional Travel Application
Overview
Attending professional conferences or meetings is critical to career advancement in terms of getting one’s work recognized, learning about the work of others, networking, learning new skills, and participating in professional service. When the attendee is the primary caregiver for an adult or child, these responsibilities present an additional challenge for conference participation. While childcare sometimes is provided at conferences, the cost usually is absorbed by the faculty member because these expenses are not often reimbursable by federal grants or state accounts.
The College of Arts and Sciences Primary Care Grant Program for Professional Travel provides funds to faculty in the college cover costs associated with primary care needs that a faculty member might incur when participating in a scholarly conference, symposium, workshop or meeting. Grants are limited to $600 per family per event, and the event must be outside of Brazos County. Funds may be used to cover additional travel costs (for a caregiver or an individual who requires primary care), and/or care costs that exceed normal care routines.

This program is open to all faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and research scientists in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Academic Professional Track (APT) Faculty Travel Assistance Application
Overview
The College of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to promoting Academic Professional Track (APT) faculty member’s creativity and scholarship in the pursuit of excellence. The APT Faculty Travel Assistance program supports such endeavors by providing travel funds for APT faculty to advance their careers.
For APT faculty whose primary responsibilities are teaching, this program aims to support their innovation, creativity, and commitment to teaching, and the scholarship of teaching, to further advance the pedagogical techniques used in their instruction to teach diverse student populations. This includes promoting efforts of APT faculty who want to advance their instruction to encompass pedagogies that address the social inequities negatively affecting underrepresented students’ achievement in higher education.
For APT faculty whose primary responsibilities are research, this program aims to provide support that offsets the cost of attending events or conferences that will enhance research activities and provide ways to disseminate their research.
Activities or events typically funded include participation in conferences, workshops, and seminars. Preference will be given to those who are disseminating their work through presentations to increase recognition at the state, national, or international level.
Eligibility Criteria
All full-time College of Arts and Sciences APT faculty members are eligible for funding through the APT Faculty Travel Assistance Program. A list of the APT faculty titles can be found at the TAMU Faculty Affairs website. Funds will be awarded to those activities that have a clear connection to the advancement of educational excellence at Texas A&M University. APT faculty are encouraged to collaborate across departments and use these funds to promote excellent teaching or research across the various disciplines within the college. Only one request per eligible faculty member will be considered per year and priority will be given to APT faculty who do not have funds available from indirect costs (IDC), departmental allocations, or other sources of travel funds.
Application Process
APT faculty interested in applying for travel assistance must fill out the electronic form for the Academic Professional Track (APT) Faculty Travel Assistance Program. Applicants must describe how the activity or event they plan to attend will (1) advance their career, (2) benefit the College, and (3) enhance the teaching of diverse students in an equitable and inclusive manner or enhance their research activities. Each academic year, approximately 15 travel awards of up to $2000 in assistance will be made available. Applications will be evaluated based on the impact the teaching careers and missions of Texas A&M. Applications must be submitted at least 30 days prior to date of departure to be considered for a travel grant award.
