Sociology Major Requirements

Interesting in becoming a Sociology major?

Please review this information carefully, as requirements for entering our major change depending upon your time at Texas A&M.

If you are a current Texas A&M student (completed at least one semester at Texas A&M), our requirements are as follows:

  • You must have below 90 completed hours
  • You must have a 2.5 TAMU GPA
  • You must have completed at least one Sociology course with a C or better.

Students can now submit a Change of Major request through Howdy to initiate the process. However, current students also need to schedule an advising meeting with a Sociology advisor to have their request reviewed.
